In an update that was well overdue, we decided to build the excellent photo site, flickr, into our "Search for pictures" activity. (Part of the Aussie Cozzie module.)
It's possible to include a random selection of beach-related images from flickr, on any page (called a flickr 'badge'). It's also possible to search for only images licensed under 'Creative Commons' (meaning images you are free to use, as long as you credit the photographer.
However, it's not possible to include only Creative Commons licensed images in your flickr badge. And it's easy enough to find Potentially Embarrassing Images, when searching for 'beach'. So we limited the badged images to a flickr group known as the Beach Photography Pool.
There will surely be a few images of people in bikinis but we're used to that. Hopefully our visitors will not be offended too regularly. Our story has always been linked from a range of sites, because of Moira's cartoon of the naked hippie bathers.
